About Us

In 1982, The French Company, Inc., was incorporated and operated as a general contractor, property manager, and real estate developer.  The Company began managing houses renovated in Federal Hill and expanded as French renovated houses in the Ridgely’s Delight and Barrie Circle neighborhoods.  Ultimately, over 70 units were developed in those neighborhoods.  Towner Management provided full management services for these properties until 2003, when approximately 45 units were sold to individual buyers.  The Company still manages the remaining, unsold scattered site units.

In 1992, The French Company was divided into three separate businesses: The French Development Company, Inc., (real estate development), Towner Management Company, Inc. (property management), and The French Company, Inc. (general contractor).

In 1997, Towner developed the concept of community-based management partnerships. In this year, it formed a partnership with Adopt-A-House Development Corporation in the Coldstream-Homestead-Montebello community (CHM) to manage Montpelier’s Choice, a newly renovated property owned by the Housing Authority of Baltimore City.  Adopt-A-House was established in 1977 and has been an active leader in homeownership and rental housing development projects in CHM.
